Hello
Everyone,
Travelling to a new city can be both an exciting and unnerving experience for many. If you are visiting Singapore soon, check out my guide below and familiarize yourself with Singapore’s unique quirks and local culture, you’ll blend in with the locals and navigate the city like a pro.....
Singapore,
an island city-state off southern Malaysia, is a global financial center with a
tropical climate and multicultural population. Its colonial core centers on the
Padang, a cricket field since the 1830s and now flanked by grand buildings such
as City Hall, with its 18 Corinthian columns.
If you’re
planning a trip to Singapore but have absolutely no idea what to pack, I’ve put
together this guide to help you. I was lucky enough to live in Singapore for a
almost a year, so have really fine-tuned my packing list.Let's explore
Singapore with me ....
Key
Points:
What to
Pack: The
average temperature in Singapore is steady all year round. It ranges between 25
and 31 degrees Celsius and humidity is high. The warmest month is April and the
coolest month is usually January.. There isn’t really a wet or dry season in
Singapore, and it’s normal to experience rain every month. It usually rains in
the afternoons and early evenings. Trust me when I tell you that when it rains,
it bloody rains. So make sure you pack a decent umbrella and other rain gear
you think you’ll need. Pack light, breathable clothing that isn’t restrictive.
I would recommend women packing cotton shirts, skirts and dresses and anything
else that is easy to move around in. It really is very hot so it’s not a good
idea to try to wear synthetic clothing that clings to your body or causes you
to sweat.Pack comfortable shoes and sandals.
Money – Don’t be too concerned about changing a lot of money before you arrive in Singapore. There are many Foreign exchange station everywhere, they’re safe and easy to use.
Where to
Visit:
- Universal Studios Singapore
- Singapore Flyer
- Night Safari Nocturnal Wildlife Park
- Singapore Zoo
- Marina Bay
- Sentosa Island
- Merlion Park
- Jurong Bird Park
- Clarke Quay
- Underwater Worlds.
The
night-life in Singapore is pretty fantastic! Clarke Quay is a great place to
start a night (perhaps even to finish one too), after which you can get a taxi
and head off to a whole range of fantastic clubs here.
Litter-free,
zero graffiti and absolutely no chewing gum in public – strict laws ensure that
Singapore’s streets are beyond clean. Yet behind the glittering facades and
squeaky-clean pavements, Singapore is a breathtaking fusion of Chinese, Malay,
Indian and Western cultures, cuisines, sounds and fashions. Yet Singapore’s
islands beckon with an altogether different vibe. A trip to Pulau Ubin Island,
in particular, is like stepping back in time. Languid hours can be whiled away
on secluded beaches, or exploring Singapore’s last kampong-style village. Get
lost in the luscious Singapore Botanic Gardens, then head to the Orchard Road
shopping belt for wallet-exploding mall madness. If that’s not your thing, head
to Chinatown to experience the bustle of a traditional marketplace.
Transport: The train (MRT) system here is
very efficient, air-conditioned and worth using to get across the city. It’s also
not too expensive so make the most of it when you visit.
Taxis are also quite cheap in Singapore – at the right times though, extra surcharges get charged during peak hours.
Safety: Singapore is very safe. Like walking back home at 4am on your own down
a dark and quiet street safe! It’s one of the safest places in the world for
solo (or group) travelers.

Food: It’s a known fact that Singaporeans are passionate about their food.
Which is why you can find countless places in Singapore that stay open all day
and night to feed the city that never sleeps! Whether you are in the mood for
some comforting dim sum, hearty Indian curry or some chilli crab, your
destination for some midnight grub is just around the corner.
For exmaple : Little India , Orchard Road,
China Town, Clarke Quay, Arabian Street, VIvo City
, Dhoby Ghaut
Where to Stay: Best areas to stay in Singapore
Shopping: Some of the best places to shop in Singapore
come in the form of outdoor markets and bustling roads. Both Little India and
Chinatown are great shopping destination and wast Bugis Street is fun and
friendly shopping experience not to be missed either.
- Orchard Road
- Bugis Street Market
- Chinatown Street Market
- Little India.
- Vivo City
- Mustafa Center
Singapore
is a very multi-cultural city. The mix of expats and locals creates for such a
vibrant fusion of different cultures, food and experiences to be had in the
city.
That's
all. Hope this post was helpful. Do let me know in the comment section or DM me
